8 years ago, I had my final ‘Hide the Bong’ dance.
At that moment, I realized I had to normalize smoking, break the stigma and judgment, and beautify the process of consumption so that we could create a feminine way forward for cannabis.
It's a beautiful plant, and it deserves to be consumed in the most beautiful of ways. It's been an honor to start this paradigm shift in cannabis paraphernalia.
For 8 years, I've been obsessed with creating a new category for women & sophisticated consumers.
I want to inspire others to create beautiful ways to enjoy cannabis, and I’m grateful that My Bud Vase—and my own personal journey—have been able to do that.
Every day, in every way, I begin with artistry...
There is art in everything….which is why I continue to collect everything vintage and to make beautiful One-of-a-Kinds.
All of these pieces have a story, a creative process, and a journey. I collect what inspires me, and then my creations spring out of each piece’s unique essence & originality.
For example, I found a little frog with a ‘Tiffany’ style texture. And I’m dreaming up how I can make a vase with this texture on the outside of it.
When I'm inspired by a vintage piece, I dig into how it was originally made.
And then I look for a way to reimagine it today, and bring it to life as a My Bud Vase with that original style & artistry.
I love to repurpose all styles of art. I'm challenged by learning the process of how a particular piece of art was made so that I can recreate it today.
The attention to detail and the craftswomanship are where I thrive!
In the process of diving deep into artistic consumption, I reimagine an item for today's consumer—for the modern cannabis consumer like you and me.
I want to match their aesthetic, make their lives easier, and beautify their cannabis journey.
And I want to elevate this Prohibition era into one of creative discovery.
I want to make sure that we get back to focusing on the feminine side of this plant and its beauty rather than getting lost in the problems of today.
In today’s cannabis industry, we're losing track of what really matters when it comes to this weed. And it needs to grow through our hearts and our own creative processes.
And it needs to be its own ‘one-of-a-kind’ for each of us.
So, in honor of all of that, I just want to tell you how grateful I am that 8 years ago, I started bringing to life the concept of a beautiful vase that is also a bong.
And for 8 years, I've pivoted my entire life around it.
I’ve done everything to honor the artistry, inspiration, and evolution of making products for this industry….for each of you.
It hasn’t always been easy being the OG Fairy Bong Mother and carving out a new category in this male-dominated industry, but boy has it been worth it!!
And I love seeing the ripple effects of our work out in the world!
Somebody told me recently that there's a trend of people repurposing vintage vases and turning them into bongs.
And I’m just in awe that I unknowingly started this 8 years ago, and it has changed my entire life, and so many of your lives too.
In this way, the cannabis plant pushes you forward into new frontiers—if you let it.
I love these new spaces and I want to honor them, while honoring the past, as well as the future.
When I first started making bongs, I hid it because I had a business where I couldn't make bongs on the side.
So it wasn't something I announced to the world as my next great creation. Instead, it was something that I kept quiet and that fed my heart & my art.
So in August of 2015, I started repurposing vintage vases. By Christmas of 2015, I had my first outdoor vending with my pieces. Little did I know they would be as popular as they were!
By 4/20 in 2016, I launched My Bud Vase with a line of beautiful, repurposed vintage pieces that also happened to be gorgeous bongs.
Within those first two years, Merry Jane Media (founded by Snoop himself!) was gifting my pieces to celebrities like Miley Cyrus!! 🤯
…Whose new album drops today—oh, the irony! :)
They were taking my pieces to all their big events and approaching them as if they had discovered a new consumption category!
I was just happy that Snoop’s company was using my product to show something cool and new in cannabis. So that, in itself, made me feel relevant to the industry…and encouraged me to keep going!
So I went on to make & sell over 1,000 of our One-of-a-Kinds before I started our Signature Collection with Aurora in November of 2017.
Here we are, 8 years later—coming full circle as we drop 30 new One-of-a-Kinds on you today!
We can’t wait for you to take them home. We hope you love them as much as we loved making them for you.
One of my favorite quotes is “Necessity is the mother of all invention.”
It was my own need to create bongs that were beautiful, discreet & functional that led me on this journey of becoming the Fairy Bong Mother & bringing My Bud Vase into the world…
And I hope that if you, reading this, have a need as a cannabis consumer, you’ll let it inspire you to create something new.
Because this industry needs your artistry & creativity too! It needs each and every one of us.
